Anita D. Burke holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice with a Psychology minor from the University of Colorado and has over 13 years of experience in the criminal justice field. She began her career with the Colorado Department of Corrections and has spent over a decade as a probation officer supervising a specialized caseload of high-risk individuals convicted of domestic violence, sexual offenses, stalking, strangulation and homicide.
In 2017, Anita took a special interest in intimate partner domestic violence and sexual violence in intimate relationships. In her role as a specialized officer, she spends extensive time interviewing individuals convicted of these crimes. Through these interviews, Anita has gained valuable insight to the thinking patterns, attitudes, and behaviors of those who engage domestic and sexual violence in intimate relationships – and their victims.
Thoroughly trained in evidence-based practices, crisis-intervention, trauma response, and motivational interviewing, Anita recognizes the need for continued training for professionals interested in offender behavior, thus, she founded A. D. Burke Consulting.
